It's not even a issue of traction for me, I just flat out don't have enough power.

Try a little finesse versus power. Middle chain ring, 2nd cog and sit on the nose of your saddle and get forward. You will be amazed at what good weight distribution and proper gear selection can do :)

I can't imagine sitting down for that climb but I'll sure give it a try next time im out because my method obviously isn't working.

if you sit on the nose of your saddle on any climb, it helps keep your rear wheel planted.
