pretty sure I saw a jaguarundi today at Boyette. didn't have my camera with me or else I'd have pics...he looked kinda pitiful. brown, lanky and skinny. he was walkin the 2 track right after the turn away from the strawberry fields. If he had been a panther or anything bigger I would have crapped my pants because I was hauling tail out there.

While riding early in the morning out of East Meadow(The southeast side) and heading north on the double track we saw the most amazing thing today.  While climbing up the hill we stopped about 10 ft from 2 panthers engaged on the double track.  These 2 were not bobcats, as they were very large, and gave me the instant feeling that I needed to use the super crapper.  No I did not get any pics to prove we saw these 2 big cats, as living to see another day was more important than documenting the sighting.  Anyway, just thought I would share with everyone since I know there have been rumors for years that Panthers exist out at Boyette.  I know 2 of us who can confirm that rumor.  No pictures......but at least we are alive.

i'm surprised you got away with all that spinning and bumpity bump riding on that rigid
Joe

I saw a panther years ago cross a major highway near Winter Haven, I'm talking a mile from the new Walmart if anyone is familiar with the area. This was back in '96, and it was the middle of the afternoon. It would not suprise me in the least that there is a panther or 2 out in the Boyette area, they have a pretty good size home area and it would be rare to see them.

I also saw a panther out at Boyette about 4 yrs ago. I know that no one believes me, but whatever. I know what I saw and it was one of the coolest moments of my life. I just turned the corner near Upper Loch Ness and there he was, standing in the middle of the trail looking at me. The most striking part of him were his whiskers. They were so large and white. His tail was also waving about. We just stared at each other for about 3 seconds and then he hopped into the woods and was gone. I, too, sharted my spandex. AWESOME!!!

it is a wonder that with all the time (and smoking) Halfbreed spends out at Boyette, he has not seen any Panthers (or bigfoot, santa claus, easter bunny, elves, whatever...) :)

Actually is a panther down in the Sarasota/Myakka State park area documented by photos and track casts recently.  Local paper also had a recent article about a minature pony that got attacked in the same area.  Whatever went after the pony cut up 2 rottweilers so bad that a vet had to put them both down.  I ride occasionally in the preserve where the cat's been seen.  Probably will never see it and am not really worried - but I'd like to see tracks.

I heard about the mystery cat in Boyette from my buddy who lives in the area.... He mentioned the Jaguarandi. I kept thinking about the Liger from Napoleon Dynamite LOL

I hug trees every once in awhile... not on purpose though, it is usually when I am falling...
