a report from Marcel via Facebook:

"Wow ... Thank you everyone I apreciate all you get well wishes. I was night riding at Carter Rd (LHP) getting ready for 6 Hrs of El Lagarto race. Worn down shoe cleats and erlier fall made me loose confidence. On 3rd night lap I endo on stair type rooty drop at end of puff n huff trail. 3rd degree ac shoulder separation and might need surgery. Slighty broken right wrist and other annoying bruises.

Off to visit Orthopedic doctors now. Vicoden is my new friend."

Pray he heals fast...

With an ac joint tear cortisone shots will be your friend.  FWIW my Doc told me AC joint surgery is a low success operation.  I trust him considering he is considered tops in his field (DR. Mighell)

Get better SP, I know exactly how that shoulder feels.

First thing he asked me last night when I told him I had a 3rd degree seperation 2.5 years ago, "How long were you off the bike?" Spoken like a true MTB'er! My ortho recommended against surgery also, and mine rarely bothers me. Lots of work to get it right and get the strength back, but better than getting cut on IMO.
