Cottonmouth on the trail today

I came up on this 4 1/2 foot cottonmouth mountain biking at Morris Bridge this afternoon. It was about halfway back on Indian, close to Cow House Slough. It was stretched out across the trail, sunning. Really didn't want to turn around and go the other way, so I slowly rolled toward it and it moved 10' from the side of the trail where it remained motionless.

I think the big ones know they are bad asses so they run :)
Good to hear you didn't get bit, nasty results!

ya, like death. >:(

There was a coral snake at the trout creek entrance the other week, luckily it was already dead.

And I also found my first ever tick on me the other day, showering off after riding the Wilderness Loop...

Be careful out there :)

I saw a very live Coral Snake cross Sand Pine right in front of me just last Sunday. I was able to stop, but couldn't get my iPhone out in time to get pic. I have also seen one at Boyette.

I don't think they strike, and I have no intention of trying to grab one to find out though. Cotton Mouths will strike though.
