Specialized vs Trek...?
« on: June 19, 2012, 07:50:29 PM »
I recently had a discussion with one of my close friends on our preferences when it comes to mountain biking. We both ride hardtails, he rides a trek 8500 and i ride a specialized rockhopper.
As the convo went on it turned into more of an argument and i decided to get some other opinions on this subject.

I chose the rockhopper, not becuz its my bike but becuz it felt better overall than the trek. shifting was smoother, suspension were both very good so i cant decide between the 2, specialized was just a tad bit lighter than the trek, and lastly the handling was a little better on the specialized. (both bikes are stock with nothing done to them)

if you have any input please let me know as I am curious to know what other people think.

trek is better. because the suspension doesnt break when you jump two feet,  :'( also. the trek is lighter. you said so yourself. and, his trek is a larger frame then yours so dont go lying and not mentioning the important things. >:(  >:(  >:(  >:(

Brand battles are lame.  Ride whatever you like and don't worry about anyone else.

brand battles are lame...
if its that important build your own frame or go custom.... simple...

if you were comparing different higher end models this conversation would be a little different.
But what do I know I ride a kona single speed…
Yeah i am that guy with the socks

I enjoy the brand wars, especially online.

If his bike is a current 8500 I'd give it the nod over any Rockhopper based on the components. Make sure you are faster than him so he can't talk smack.

What dummy would choose the bottom of the line specialized over treks top alum Ht. How could it shift better? How could it handle better? How could it be lighter?
He choosed the spec cause its $1500.00 bucks lighter. now the s works, its better then the 8500

I had a Specialized, sold it because no one would ride with me, then i found some people, and tried out a trek, and found it to be a bit smoother. Now im using a trek.
