Mountain Bike Intermediate / Advanced Training Clinics

In addition to our Introduction to Mountain Biking class, we partner to offer more advanced training for those looking to further improve their skills. The more advanced classes are taught by Shelly Allen.

Shelly’s coaching specialties include skills training, climbing, drop-offs, cornering, knowing your bike, reading the terrain, and race tactics, as well as basic mountain bike skills. Her attention to detail and patience allows her to be very accommodating of her client's needs. She works with her clients to develop abilities they need for success in mountain biking, such as upper body strength for bike control and balance for technical descending.

Clinic Information

The intermediate and advanced clinics will be co-ed and available to anyone 15 years and older. Cost is $45 per person for a 3 hour clinic. Classes require a minimum of 3 riders and a maximum of 10. Clinics may take place at Santos, Loyce E Harp, Balm Boyette or Alafia River State Park.

Shelly also offers one-on-one coaching at $80 per hour. She specializes in 'race ready' clinics for anyone interested in getting into racing.

To sign up for one of Shelly's clinics, students will need to go to the clinics page on the Wenzel website where they can register, pay and sign a waiver.

Shelly will be happy to customize a clinic for anyone and their group. Contact her at shellyallen (at) wenzelcoaching (dot) com

Shelly is a Florida Native, born and raised in St. Petersburg. She loves to play on bikes in the dirt. The more rocks and roots, the more technical the trail, the better. She has been racing mountain bikes for over 21 years and still can’t get enough. Shelly raced for the South East Regional Trek Team for 11 years and earned Worlds Master Mountain Bike Champion and World Cup Champion titles. She is also an 11-time Florida State Champion and has won three 6-hour solo races and placed 5th at the prestigious BC Stage Race, a seven-day mountain bike stage race in British Columbia, Canada.
