Bad image for Bikers
« on: April 19, 2015, 10:48:35 AM »
As some know I belong to a running club too,  Yea yea I know but it is good to run for MTBing too.  Well on UTBT a runner who was riding her bike had her chain pop off.  Not one single rider stopped to help.  I Could only figure it was all roadies as I have encountered the same behaviour before.

I explained that it is different when dealing with a roadie vs a MTB'er.  I have had quite a few MTB riders stop and ask if I needed help.

If you see someone that may need help, runner or not, just ask if they need help.  They may not but just asking goes a LONG way and distinguishes an MBT'er from the rest of the riders.  DOn't keep your kindness to just the group or MTB rider but to everyone that may need help.

Did she ask anybody for help? I bet they would have stopped if she did. I normally don't stop unless somebody asks.

You want to get better on the bike? Ribmo. Running will make you a better runner. Specificity.

That I am not sure of.  But then again I have noticed that when I would say hey or acknowledge most of the road riders they would either

1. Act like they didn't see me(that would be impossible due to my large mass and bright colored shirts I normally wear. I look like a big florescent lime, orange, or something you see on a bad trip from that last hit of acid)
2. turn and look away
3. give me the GTH look

There are very few that are nice that I have meet/saw so far.  Runners and MTB'er seem to be nicer overall.  I wonder why that is?

More zombie thread.

You at least slow and ask if someone needs a hand. Even if he/she isn't cute or your preferred ....

Ya ask.

Take care of the trails & each other. Everyone @ the trailhead (for the most part) is there for the same reason. To record times, talk trash about how fast they (think) are & sport as much gear with logo's on it that they can. Lycra. Sporting lycra too... almost forgot that one. Have fun folks. That's what it's always supposed to be about.

I've fixed four flats in four years, only one was on my bike.
,,Fixed two broken chains, both on other peoples bikes,
