Just thought I would write this down somewhere.... I pulled into Boyette parking yesterday next to two riders with their bikes on kickstands getting ready to go out. A Next and a Dimondback bike.
They were wearing gym shorts and t-shirt type of thing so I get out and smile and say hi. Showing my friendly side you know. One of them comes up to me and wants to know where the trails start. I point them on the right direction and wish them a good ride. They mount their bikes and one of them turns to ask me where the Abyss trail is. It is then I decide to show my bad side
First I did answer his question. I told him is way in the back of the park but add that if they don't have their helmets on, I suggest they don't ride it. That answer didn't go well with them. One of thems shakes his head and the other asks me where in the bulletin board it says the helmets must be on. I tell him it is not that is just a sugestion. He then asks me if is the law. I said no but should be mandatory if you going to ride the Abyss. Unless he wants his friend to carry him back to the parking lot. They looked bigger then me so I knew I had said enough. They hesitated and tell me that they are only going to ride easy and nothing crazy. I finally just tell them that most accidents to me have happen on easier trails where I thought I could not get hurt. (I am not known as SandPine fo'nothing
)
Well, one of them open their brand new spanky red H3 suv and pulls two helmets. he puts his on and the other just puts it on the handle bar of his bike. They pull the kickstands up and off they go. I just shake my head and hope I didn't have to pull them out. I finished my ride at 8pm and didn't see them laying on the trail. The shinny brand new H3 was gone so I hope they made it back to their families.
Oh well... I did my part at warning them.
