Well I guess, although I think it was kinda lose already when I installed it. it pulls right through the rubber very easy with little resistance, so maybe. I didn't make it any tighter than the front one..The funny thing is it held all during the ride even when ti was riding at like 22 mph.. it waited until after I got home to leak out. You did read it was a used Rim Strip, right? :)

Yeah, looking at it again it was pretty worn. The 20" tube looks like it will work pretty good, not much different than the strip as far as I can tell except the cost that is... :)

AARRRRGGHHHHH!!!

Had my 1 month old Kenda Kozmik Lite Blow-up on Friday! I had put it on the rack with Spencer's bike and the tire was fine, got to our camp area in Brooksville and the tire was flat. pumped it up and it was leaking from a small hole in the side wall and Stan's was not plugging it. put a tube in and pumped it up and BAM! it blew up!! Not blaming Stans for the tire defect (although it MAY have contributed) i spent this afternoon trying to put a older tire on and set it up with Stans to no avail. I ended up putting a tube back in.... Reminds me of why I gave up on Stans last time, messy and hard to deal with when you have an issue like this.......  :( :( :( :(

When you learn the art of tubeless, it is less hassle than tubes ;)

big guys and light tires are usually not a good combo.

Slowfat.

Exactly what I was gonna say.  Its not tubeless its your tire choice.  Let's face the facts, your a giant, get some tires with some meat on them, not like a few grams will be that big of differance for a guy who just loves to ride.

Funny, I would have thought the rear tire would have that kind of problem if it was due to being too light a tire. the more I look at the tire it looks like it was a scrape mark from a rock that weakened
the side wall and caused the problem. I guess i'll go back to the Maxxis Ignitors, I liked those tires...

I guess, it is just a messy problem and trying to get the tire to "Seal" is a pain. Tried compressor, co2 and pump today With soapy water and all with no luck... and I am NOT going to buy "Tubeless Wheels" so dont even suggest them....

added a pic so you can see.

CO2 and stans do not play well together, DON"T GO THERE!!! No need for UST wheels, try removing the core out of your presta valve and hit it with the compressor. If that does'nt work, train the tire overnite with a tube. Next morning the tire will have developed a memory for the proper shape and should present no problem. 9 out of 10 times I can get'r done by just removing the core and using a floor pump. Also try pulling the tire bead into place with the wheel hanging, just little tricks you will pick up.

I just dumped my 3 gallon air compressor into mine, no sealant, no valve core. Used with an air gun fitting for the fastest flow, set the regulator to 60 to avoid accidentally overpressuring the tire and blowing it off the rim, that seated the bead real quick after a little bit of wiggling of the tire by the valve. Released the pressure, pulled back a little section opposite the valve to put the sealant in, turned the wheel over, reseated the bead with the compressor, deflate to replace the valve core, and inflated to 50 to get it all sealed up.

[don't know why I wrote that again, oh well postcount +1]

I will try those ideas, but you see what I mean about having to do more to get it set up? I guess it would not be so bad if I was used to messing with it like you Scott...

I was a total Anti Stans.

But now that I have it, I want it on all my bikes... so thats on the Personal bike shop initiative at the house, get all wheels on all bikes to Stans requirements.

thats it I am done... maybe i'll give it a shot another time, but this stinks... 2 more hours wasted trying to get these tires to take air to set the bead... tubes cost me $2.25 each and takes me 3 mins to fix... maybe down the road i'll buy some REAL tubeless wheels and tires but I am done with it for now.. now to go ride Boyette with my TUBED tires...
