Had that same crankset but broke the drive side arm. Almost cried in front of my buds.

Why disc brakes? if you dont like gears go with coaster brakes, pretend its 1975 again!

How have the trails held up with the rain?  And on a side note, do you ride the red trails SS as well?

seat post height is temporary, trying to find whats comfortable..

It definitely looks uncomfortable that low.

Darrinw2001 yea yeah, funny ...  :-\

Triple T yeah i lowered the seat to mess around with the jumps (26r dirt jump friends talked me into it), def had to raise it for trail riding..

and as for the trails, it was a bit mushy but not that bad... and im a bit of a noob (first time riding trails in a few years), but i hit a few reds and didnt have much trouble at all.  i actually road my buddies 26r geared hardtail on a mellow red and i was finding my bike a lot more comfortable. climbing is not that bad at all,  i was pretty happy with my gear ratio. i found i have a lot more confidence with the 29r compared to 26r when it comes to a lot of sections of the trail (lets not start a 29r vs 26r argument..)

No argument hear....I have been on both sides.  I had the same bike.  I wouldn't put disk on it, as I did.  It does not do anything but add weight, plus you already have great brakes.  The 29er rim has whole lot of surface for the brakes you have now.  I would leave it stock maybe run an 18 on back, and always have a 16 handy.  The stock 20 is gonna kick your butt if your riding with a fast group....Anyway Congrats...It is an awesome bike. Although I have to give it a lower rating because it's just not a Giant!

haha yeah, im really happy with it (only paid $325, and its never been on trails, and all ready has some minor upgrades).  see, i was having problems with my breaks all day. i would keep adjusting them but they would either rub, or just loosen up and not lock up enough for me. and then i ride my buddies rides with disc breaks and its like night and day, the difference was undeniable.  but im hitting santos again tomorrow (its supposed to be better weather and alot dryer), so we'll see.. im new to the mtb world, but im loving it!! plus, i feel honored to have santos only minutes away from my house.
